Reflection

Spec G7 G11
  • A reflection is a type of transformation that flips an object across a mirror line
  • The object is the original shape and the image is the shape after the reflection
  • Corresponding points on the object and image are equally spaced from the mirror line
  • A mirror line can be represented by an equation of the type x = a constant for vertical lines and y = a constant for horizontal lines
  • To perform a reflection, draw the mirror line and then draw the image of each vertex on the opposite side of the mirror line at the same distance as the original vertex
  • Finally, join the plotted vertices to draw the image of the reflected object
