Scaling Ratios
- Ratios can be written in different ways
- Ratios can be scaled by multiplying or dividing both sides by the same value
- Scaling a ratio creates an equivalent ratio
- Rewriting a ratio is an important step in longer ratio exam questions
- Example: ratio of 2 to 3 can be scaled up to 12 to 18
- Example: lemonade recipe uses 2 jugs of water and 3 lemons
- Example: if using 8 jugs of water, 12 lemons are needed
