  • To simplify, find the highest common factor (HCF) of the numerator and denominator
  • Factorize the numerator and denominator separately
  • Divide the numerator and denominator by the HCF to simplify the fraction
  • Can use the splitting method to factorize quadratic expressions
  • Can use the difference of two squares method to factorize denominators
  • Cancel any common factors in the numerator and denominator to fully simplify the fraction
