Simplifying Advanced Algebraic Fractions
- Some algebraic fractions require factorizing to simplify them
- To simplify, find the highest common factor (HCF) of the numerator and denominator
- Factorize the numerator and denominator separately
- Divide the numerator and denominator by the HCF to simplify the fraction
- Can use the splitting method to factorize quadratic expressions
- Can use the difference of two squares method to factorize denominators
- Cancel any common factors in the numerator and denominator to fully simplify the fraction
