Subtracting Limits of Accuracy
- When subtracting two measurements, the limits of accuracy for the result depend on the bounds of the original measurements.
- The smallest possible difference is obtained by subtracting the maximum value of one measurement from the minimum value of the other measurement.
- The largest possible difference is obtained by subtracting the minimum value of one measurement from the maximum value of the other measurement.
- In the example given, the smallest possible difference in speed between the two cars is 5 miles per hour, and the largest possible difference is 15 miles per hour.
