Background Infomation

Eric Arthur Blair (otherwise known by his pen name, George Orwell) was born in 1903 to British colonists within India. He was born into a historically wellestablished middle-class family that had profited from slavery. Throughout his life, Orwell became a firm believer in democratic socialism. This stemmed from a series of life experiences which played a large role in shaping the political undertones within Animal Farm.
