Adding & Subtracting Terms
- Like terms have the same variables and indices
- Like terms can be collected by adding or subtracting the coefficients
- Addition of terms can often be written as a simple multiplication
- The coefficient is the number in front of the variable
- To simplify an expression, identify like terms and perform the necessary operations
- The simplest form of an expression is when there are no more like terms to collect
- The order of operations for addition and subtraction is from left to right
- Variables written next to each other should be in alphabetical order
- The fully simplified form of an expression is when there are no more like terms to collect
