Area Under a Graph
- The area between a graph and the x axis represents the result of multiplying a range of x values by their changing y values
- To work out the area under a non-linear graph, two vertical lines need to be drawn to represent the start and end of the area
- The area under a non-linear graph is more complicated to calculate than a horizontal line, as the y values are constantly changing
- Finding the area under the graph is necessary when multiplying a constant by a changing variable
- The units of the area are the units of the y axis multiplied by the units of the x axis
- The units of the area represent some kind of cost or value
