  • Decimal numbers represent non-whole numbers
  • Decimal place is the position of a digit after a decimal point
  • Each decimal place is ten times smaller than the previous one
  • Place value of digits in a decimal can be found and compared in a place value chart
  • Adding zeros to the end of a decimal does not change its value
  • Digits in a decimal can be read off to determine their place value
  • Ordering decimal numbers is harder than ordering whole numbers
  • More digits does not necessarily mean a larger number
  • Comparing the digits in each decimal place helps determine the order of decimals from largest to smallest
