Dividing by Powers of 10
- Dividing by powers of 10 involves moving the digits in a number and removing zeros
- Dividing by 10 moves digits one place to the right
- Dividing by larger powers of 10 is the same as repeatedly dividing by 10
- To divide by a power of 10, you need to shift the digits to the right by the number of zeros in the power of 10
- Example: 15,000 divided by 1,000 is equal to 15 (digits shifted three places to the right)
