Estimation
- Estimating the answer by rounding numbers can be useful when the exact value is not necessary
- Rounding can be done to one significant figure or other ways depending on the context
- Estimation can give an idea of the range of an answer before doing the full calculation
- Estimation is useful for checking if answers to complicated calculations are sensible and for questions that ask for an estimate
- Example: estimating the value of a calculation by rounding numbers
- Example: estimating how many horses can fit in a field by rounding measurements and calculating the area
