Independent Probabilities
- The probability of two independent events both happening is equal to the product of the probabilities of the individual events happening.
- The formula for calculating the probability of both events happening is PA and B = PA * PB.
- The formula is only true when A and B are independent events.
- The probability of both events occurring can be found by multiplying the individual probabilities together.
- When there are potential duplicate outcomes, the probability needs to be adjusted accordingly.
- In an example with an aeroplane, the probability of the plane crashing during a flight is calculated by multiplying the probabilities of the individual faults occurring.
- In another example with a game show, the probability of being assigned the letters M and A is calculated by multiplying the probabilities of each letter being assigned.
