  • Probability tree diagrams are used to show a series of events and the probabilities of different outcomes happening in a specific order.
  • If events in a probability tree are independent, the probabilities on the second set of branches will be the same, regardless of which first branch they stem from.
  • Independent events are events where the probability of the second event does not depend on whether the first event happens.
  • If events in a probability tree are dependent, the probabilities on the second set of branches will change depending on which first branch they stem from.
  • Dependent events are events where the probability of the second event changes depending on whether the first event happened.
  • In a probability tree diagram, the possible events on the second set of branches can also be dependent on the first branch.
  • To calculate missing probabilities in a probability tree diagram, you can use the fact that the probabilities in a set of branches add up to 1.
  • In independent events, the probabilities will be the same every time an event appears.
