- Any number that can be written as a fraction can also be written as a decimal
- Irrational numbers cannot be written as fractions with integers for the numerator and denominator
- Some fractions and their decimal conversions are useful to remember
- Fractions can be converted to decimals by dividing the numerator by the denominator
- Fractions with prime factors that aren't 2 or 5 result in recurring decimals
- To convert a fraction to a decimal, find a similar fraction with a known decimal and use it as a reference
- Multiply the known decimal by the number of times the similar fraction is repeated to find the decimal equivalent of the given fraction
- Divide the known decimal by the factor by which the similar fraction is larger to find the decimal equivalent of the given fraction
