  • Any number that can be written as a fraction can also be written as a decimal
  • Irrational numbers cannot be written as fractions with integers for the numerator and denominator
  • Some fractions and their decimal conversions are useful to remember
  • Fractions can be converted to decimals by dividing the numerator by the denominator
  • Fractions with prime factors that aren't 2 or 5 result in recurring decimals
  • To convert a fraction to a decimal, find a similar fraction with a known decimal and use it as a reference
  • Multiply the known decimal by the number of times the similar fraction is repeated to find the decimal equivalent of the given fraction
  • Divide the known decimal by the factor by which the similar fraction is larger to find the decimal equivalent of the given fraction
