Long Multiplication - Column Method
- Long multiplication is used to multiply numbers with many digits
- The process involves setting up the equation in column format and lining up the digits according to place value
- The multiplication is done systematically, starting with the units and moving to the tens, hundreds, etc.
- Carrying over is necessary when the multiplication results in a two-digit number
- The final step is to add up the columns from units to thousands to get the final answer
- The same process applies to multiplying larger numbers together
