  • Mixed and improper fractions can be converted to and from each other
  • To convert a mixed number to an improper fraction:
  • Multiply the whole number by the denominator
  • Add this to the numerator
  • Add the numbers in the numerator to get an improper fraction
  • To convert an improper fraction to a mixed number:
  • Divide the numerator by the denominator to get the number of wholes
  • Find the remainder
  • Rewrite as a mixed number with the wholes and the remainder in the fraction
