  • The mode is a measure of central tendency that represents the data value that appears most often in a data set.
  • It is used to describe a typical value from a set of data.
  • The mode may not be a good measure of central tendency if there are multiple modes with widely different values.
  • The mode is still useful if the data set has many values reasonably close to the measures of central tendency.
  • The mode can be found for both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • In qualitative data, the mode is determined by the frequency of occurrence of different categories.
  • Statistical diagrams such as pie charts, pictograms, and bar charts make it easy to identify the mode.
  • In a frequency table, the mode is the data value with the greatest frequency.
  • For grouped data, the modal class is the class with the highest frequency.
