Money Calculations
- One pound is equal to one hundred pence
- To convert from pence to pounds, divide the value by one hundred
- To convert from pounds to pence, multiply the value by one hundred
- Pounds and pence can be combined into a single number, with pounds before the decimal point and pence as two digits after it
- Adding pounds and pence is done by adding the digits with the same place value
- In the example, Sarah spent 0.80 pounds on apples and 5.55 pounds on pineapples, for a total of 6.35 pounds or 6 pounds and 35 pence.
