Multiplying Algebraic Fractions
- Algebraic fractions can be multiplied in a similar way to normal fractions.
- Factorize the numerator or denominator before multiplying to make the working clearer and reduce the likelihood of mistakes.
- Multiply the numerators together and the denominators together.
- Simplify by cancelling common factors.
- Dividing the numerator and denominator by the same factor does not change the value of the fraction.
- When multiplying powers of the same variable, the powers add together.
- When dividing powers of the same variable, the powers subtract from each other.
- Fully simplify the expression by cancelling common factors.
