- 1 percent is equivalent to the fraction 1/100 or 1 hundredth
- To convert a fraction to a percentage, scale it so that the denominator is 100 and read the numerator
- Fractions can be scaled up or down by multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator by the same amount
- To convert a percentage to a fraction, write the percentage as a numerator with 100 as the denominator
- Simplify the fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by a common factor
- Practice examples: converting 42% to a simplified fraction (21/50) and converting 81/200 to a percentage (40.5%)
