Planes

1:27 Geometric Terminology
Spec G1
  • A plane is a flat two-dimensional surface that extends infinitely
  • A plane has width and length, but no thickness
  • In 3D, a plane would go into and out of the screen towards you
  • Planes extend infinitely in one direction, giving them length, and in another direction, giving them width
  • Real-world examples of objects that are like planes include a tabletop and the surface of a chessboard, but they are not truly planes in the mathematical sense as they have thickness and do not extend forever
