Prefixes
- Prefixes are placed in front of units to represent multiples or fractions of a unit
- Prefix "k" represents a thousand of the unit (e.g. kilometer, kilogram)
- Prefix "M" represents a million of the unit (e.g. megameter, megagram)
- Prefix "C" represents a hundredth of the unit (e.g. centimeter, centigram)
- Prefix "m" represents a thousandth of the unit (e.g. millimeter, milligram)
- There are many other prefixes, such as giga (billion) and nano (billionth)
- Mega, kilo, centi, and milli are commonly used prefixes in exam questions
