Product Rule for Counting
- The product rule for counting tells us the number of outcomes of two or more events
- The total number of outcomes is found by multiplying the number of outcomes for each event
- Systematic listing can be used to determine the specific outcomes
- Example: Sam has 3 desks, 5 chairs, and 10 lamps to choose from, there are 150 ways to choose one of each
- Example: In a room with 10 people, there are 45 handshakes in total (after removing duplicates)
