Solving by Elimination
- Simultaneous equations can be solved by subtracting one equation from another to eliminate one variable
- When rearranging equations, whatever is done to the left hand side must also be done to the right hand side
- The solution consists of all the values the variables need to take to solve all the equations
- To solve simultaneous equations, multiply one equation so that one variable has the same coefficient in both equations
- Subtract one equation from the other to eliminate a variable
- Solve the new equation to find the value of the remaining variable
- Substitute the solution back into one of the original equations to find the value of the other variable
- Check the solution by substituting it into the second equation
