The Inverse Trigonometric Functions
- Inverse trigonometric functions do the opposite of regular trigonometric functions
- The three inverse trig functions are inverse sine, inverse cosine, and inverse tangent
- They can be used to calculate angles in right angle triangles
- The specific inverse trig function to use depends on the given sides of the triangle
- Example: Given sides of length 12cm and 7cm, use inverse tangent to calculate the angle theta
- Input the given side lengths into the equation and use the inverse tan button on a calculator
- The result will be the value of theta in degrees, rounded to three significant figures
