Vertex Labelling Conventions
- Geometry uses letters to label vertices, lines, angles, and shapes
- A and B are points, and AB is the line segment that joins them
- The line segment can also be labeled as BA
- An angle between two line segments AB and AC is labeled as angle BAC or angle CAB
- The letter where the angle is located is in the middle of the three letters
- A 2D shape is labeled by the letters representing each vertex, in the order of adjacency
- The shape can be labeled in any order as long as the order of the letters indicates adjacency
- There is a convention to label shapes going clockwise, but it is not necessary and won't result in marks being lost if labeled anti-clockwise.
