- Components connected in parallel are all on separate branches that meet at the same point.
- The potential difference across each component will be the same.
- The current will be split between the branches dependent on their resistances. The current through each component on the same branch will be the same.
- The total resistance of two components connected in parallel will be less than that of the smaller of their resistances.
- Connecting resistors in parallel will reduce the total resistance of the circuit and increase the total current flowing.
