  • Make sure to understand and highlight the key words of each question to see what exactly is expected from you.
  • Pay special attention to the expected format of the piece. If it says escribele un email a tu amigo Juan, it means that it is expecting a written piece in the format of an email. In that case you must use appropriate email style openings and sign offs, e.g Hola Juan, espero que estes bien (Hi Juan, I hope that you are well) then when signing off, write atentamente (sincerely).
  • In addition to being obligated to respond to all of the bullet points, you must address each with the expected tense e.g if the bullet point says qué hiciste la última vez que fuiste al centro de la ciudad you are expected to form the past tense correctly to talk about something you did at the city centre the last time you visited there.
  • Make sure to give both negative and positive opinions, using negative and positive qualifiers.
  • When asked about your opinion about something, make sure to justify it with the correct phrases e.g Me gusta escuchar a musica pop dado que/porque/ya que es muy guay.
  • Plan before you write. Take 2-3 minutes to write notes for each bullet point and tense.
  • Include some higher tier structures/phrases to boost your marks, such as:
    • Suelo + infinitive (I usually…)
    • Acabo de + infinitive (I have just…)
    • Si tuviera más tiempo + conditional (If i had more time...)
    • Me habría gustado + infinitive (I would have liked…)
  • Leave at least 3-5 minutes to proofread. Make sure to check for gender/noun agreements, spelling, and proper tense formation.
