  • You can ask yes/no questions using normal word order and raising your voice at the end. This is called upwards intonation. For example:
    • Tú comes carne. (You eat meat.)
    • ¿Tú comes carne? (Do you eat meat?)
  • Spanish also has special question words (wh-words), like: Qué (what), Quién (who), Cuándo (when), Por qué (why), Cómo (how), Cuál (which), Cuánto/a/os/as (how much/many), and Dónde (where).
  • The word order for questions with ‘wh’ words is: wh-word + verb + subject (the subject is optional but can be placed after the verb for clarity). For example:
    • ¿Dónde está Daniel? (Where is Daniel?)
    • ¿Qué hace la chica? (What is the girl doing?)
    • ¿Cómo estás? (How are you?) [the subject is understood as ]
    • ¿Quién viene? (Who is coming?) [the subject is quién itself]
    • ¿Cuándo vamos al cine? (When are we going to the movies?)
