  • Data Protection Act 2018: controls how organisations collect and use personal data. This Act states that people have rights to:
    • Know what data is held 
    • Ask for their data to be changed or deleted 
    • Have their data used fairly, lawfully, and securely
  • Computer Misuse Act 1990: makes certain unauthorised activities illegal, such as:
    • Gaining access to computer systems without permission
    • Spreading malware
    • Carrying out denial of service (DoS) attacks
  • Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988: protects creators (e.g. authors, musicians, developers) and prevents others from:
    • Copying or distributing work without permission
    • Claiming someone else’s work as their own
