Now that you have a really solid understand of the defining characteristics of Shakespeare’s plays, you can begin actually reading the play you’re studying. Reading a Shakespeare play, however, is not as simple as reading a novel or another familiar text type; if you go ahead and open to the first page and dive in, you’re likely to become quite disoriented by the wide array of unfamiliar characters in a strange setting, speaking a language that doesn’t quite feel like the English you’re used to.
