Imagery

Imagery and recurring imagery (also called motifs) are hugely important elements of texts. Imagery, to clarify, is emotionally charged language that evokes vivid visual pictures in our mind. Therefore, a random flower may not conjure up a vivid vivid imagery or have any strong emotion attached to it. However, a lengthy description of an overgrown weed in a powerful soliloquy may reveal a character’s state of distress regarding their uncontrolled thoughts or the feudal lawlessness that has caused turmoil in their society. When writing essays, it is often very impressive if you can draw upon a range of other techniques in addition to imagery to provide meaningful analysis and arguments.
