  • FSH and LH can be artificially provided in fertility drugs to support natural pregnancy through sexual intercourse, such as through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
  • IVF involves injecting FSH and LH to stimulate the maturation of several eggs. The eggs are collected and fertilised by sperm in vitro (outside the body) in a lab, and the fertilised eggs develop into embryos before being implanted in uterus.
  • Fertility treatments allow people to have babies who otherwise might not be able to. However, it is emotionally and physically stressful, can have low success rates, and can lead to multiple births, which are a risk to both the babies and the person giving birth.
