  • For people, rainforests provide resources (e.g. food, medicine, raw materials) and support livelihoods through farming, logging, and tourism. 
  • For the environment, rainforests function as a carbon sink by absorbing CO2 and help regulate the Earth’s climate. They also maintain biodiversity by providing habitats for many species and prevent soil erosion and regulate the water cycle, reducing the risk of flooding and drought.
