Absorbing and emitting infrared radiation

Absorption and emission of infrared radiation

  • All bodies will absorb and emit infrared radiation. This is true for objects of any temperature, but hotter objects will emit more radiation per second.
  • At high temperatures, the object will also emit red visible light. As the temperature increases, it also emits light of shorter wavelengths, eventually emitting white light.
