Absorption and emission of infrared radiation

All bodies will absorb and emit infrared radiation. This is true for objects of any temperature, but hotter objects will emit more radiation per second.
At high temperatures, the object will also emit red visible light. As the temperature increases, it also emits light of shorter wavelengths, eventually emitting white light.
