Water supply

  • Water conservation: reducing water waste through efficient use and better management (e.g. fixing leaks, water-efficient appliances).
  • Groundwater management: monitoring and controlling underground water sources to prevent overabstraction (e.g. regulation, recharging aquifers).
  • Recycling: treating wastewater to be reused for agriculture, industry, or domestic purposes (e.g. Singapore’s “NEWater” recycles wastewater).
  • ‘Grey’ water: reusing water from sinks, baths, and washing machines for non-drinking purposes (e.g. irrigation, flushing toilets)
