- Newton’s third law states that if an object exerts a force on another object, that object will exert an equal and opposite force, of the same type, on the first.
- Examples of Newton’s third law in action:
- When an object is pulled towards Earth by gravity, the object is also pulling the Earth towards it.
- When two charges repel or attract, they both experience the same force towards or away from each other.
- When you stand on a floor, the floor exerts an upward reaction force that is equal to your weight pushing down on it.
