  • The imperfect continuous is used to describe actions that were ongoing or in the past. It is more common in spoken Spanish.
  • Structure: [Estar in imperfect] + [present participle (gerund)]
  • Examples:
    • Yo estaba estudiando. (I was studying.)
    • estabas leyendo un libro. (You were reading a book.)
    • Él estaba comiendo. (He was eating.)
    • Nosotros estábamos jugando al fútbol. (We were playing football.)
    • Ellos estaban viendo una película. (They were watching a movie.)
