  • Indefinite adjectives describe nouns in a non-specific way. In Spanish, they can express ideas like ‘each,’ ‘same,’ ‘other,’ ‘all,’ or ‘some.’
  • It is non-specific because it doesn’t point to a specific thing. For example: Algún libro es interesante (some book is interesting). Here, algún (some) doesn’t refer to a specific item.
  • Many agree in gender and number but some are invariable meaning they do not change at all. The list below specifies which adjectives agree with nouns or are invariable.
    • cada (each, every): – invariable; only with singular nouns.
      • Cada estudiante tiene un libro. (Each student has a book.)
      • Voy al gimnasio cada día. (I go to the gym every day.)
    • mismo (same): agrees in gender and number of the noun.
      • El mismo problema otra vez (The same problem again)
      • Las mismas ideas que ayer (The same ideas as yesterday)
    • otro (other, another): agrees with the gender and number of the noun.
      • Quiero otro café. (I want another coffee.)
      • Compré otras camisas. (I bought other shirts.)
    • todo (all, every): agrees with gender and number of the noun.
      • Todo el mundo está aquí. (Everyone is here.)
      • Todas las casas son blancas. (All the houses are white.)
    • alguno / algún (some, any): algún is used before a singular masculine noun, whereas alguno changes form to match gender and number (alguna, algunos, algunas).
      • ¿Tienes algún libro interesante? (Do you have any interesting books?)
      • Algunos amigos vendrán. (Some friends will come.)
    • ninguno / ningún (none, not any): ninguno (changes to ninguna for feminine) is typically used in singular form, whereas ningún is used before a singular masculine noun.
      • No tengo ningún lápiz. (I don’t have any pencil.)
      • Ninguna respuesta fue correcta. (No answer was correct.)
