  • Information Technology (IT): 
    • The UK is a global leader in IT, attracting overseas business investment. 
    • Computers can store and process copious amounts of data quickly. 
    • The internet and IT allow people to work from home or be selfemployed. 
  • Service industry: accounts for 75% of the UK’s economy, including healthcare, IT support, and entertainment.
  • Finance and research: jobs include accounting, insurance, and investment (e.g. Barclays, Aviva). Research is also essential for sustainable growth in the UK.
  • Science and business parks: areas designed for company offices, often located near universities to attract graduates. For example, the UK has over 100 science parks.
