  • Climate: hot and dry conditions limit water availability, affecting plants, animals, and human activities. 
  • Water: scarce water sources (e.g. oases) are vital for plants, animals, and people.
  • Soils: poor, sandy soils support only drought-resistant plants, which in turn provides food and shelter for animals. 
  • Plants and animals: plants like cacti store water, while animals like camels and fennec foxes are adapted to survive with minimal water. 
  • People: nomadic tribes (e.g. Tuareg people) rely on animals for transport and trade, while farming communities depend on irrigation.
