Imagery refers to visually descriptive or figurative language in which words are essentially used to bring scenes and situations to life. The effect is that a certain ‘image’ is evoked in the reader’s mind. As such, imagery is rife in A Christmas Carol, and there are examples of this literary technique to be found on every single page of the novella.
