Resource cycles and environmental change

  • Scientific experiments are performed to determine the relationship between two or more variables.

  • An independent variable is a variable that is manually changed. An experiment should have only one independent variable.
  • A dependent variable is a variable that will change as a result of a change in the independent variable.
  • The dependent and independent variables are measured to determine the relationship between them.
  • A control variable is a variable that must be kept the same throughout the experiment to make the test fair.
  • Changing a control variable will make it unclear if that change or a change in the independent variable is responsible for a change in the dependent variable
