- Xylem and phloem are found together in the vascular bundle.
- Xylem tissue transports water and mineral ions up from the roots to the leaves via the stem. It is made of hollow tubes without end walls, strengthened by lignin.
- Phloem tissue transports dissolved sucrose from the leaves (made from glucose from photosynthesis) to the rest of the plant for use or storage. This is called translocation.
- Cell sap in phloem tissue can move from one cell to the next through pores in the end walls.
