  • The mean of a set of values is the sum of those values divided by the number of values there are (e.g. the mean of 4, 7, 13 is (4+7+13)/3 = 8). This is used to calculate the average value of the results from a repeated experiment.
  • The range of data is the difference between the largest and smallest value (e.g. the range of 4, 7, 13 is 13 – 4 = 9). This can give us information about the uncertainty of a repeated experiment.
